Dear Neighbors,

This past winter, Tay Vaughan and Marcia Van Gemert opened their home and workshop to our family each Saturday for boat building classes. Tay selected and modified plans for two 12-foot kayaks, and taught Henry and Peter how to measure, cut, drill, wire, epoxy, glue, sand, and fiberglass their way into boat ownership. The boys learned a tremendous amount about acetone, flutter-nutter sandwiches, and how Bondo and a can of flat, black paint can fix almost anything! They also learned something about independence and resiliency in completing such a project.

Please join us for the official boat launch at South Beach this *Saturday at 3:00 pm*. The ceremony will be short, then we'll push the boys into the Bay, and drive back to Gate D to wait for their arrival. Stop by South Beach for the launch or come by the house after 4:00 pm for drinks and hors-d'oeuvres.

Well done Henry and Peter!! What a great accomplishment. (Good thing the rest of us didn’t realize that fluffer-nutter sandwiches were being served on Saturdays by Tay and Marcia or it would have been standing room only.) 😏
